"Diary of Algeria," a collection of Italian poetry presented in Algiers

Algiers- "Diary of Algeria, poetic meetings and wanderings of both Mediterranean banks" is a collection of Italian poetry, which first issue will be that of Poetess Daniela Attanasio, invited recently in Algiers. Initiated by Algiers' Italian Cultural Institute, "diary of Algeria" provides a "space for freedom set to host the Italian poets," the Institute's director Mario Paolini wrote in its foreword, adding that this collection "may be a kind of anthology of the Italian contemporary poetry in Algiers."

"Days of Glory" revives painful war memories for Algerians

Ramadan: Music and theatre in the programme of the ONCI

Algiers- Song, folk music and plays are included in the programme made by the National Office of Culture and Information (ONCI) specially for the month of Ramadan. These activities will be kicked off by the dress rehearsal of ''Les prétendants'' (pretenders), a play adapted of the work of the Russian playwright Gogol, performed by the association ''Kaouss Kouzeh'' of Algiers and directed by Saïdi Merzoug.

Amara Lakhous winner of Flaiano International Prize 2006 for literature

Rome - Algerian writer and journalist Amara Lakhous was elected Monday among three successful candidates of the 33rd edition of Flaiano International ¨Prize for literature, for his work ''Choc des civilisations pour un ascenseur à la piazza Vittorio'' published two months ago.
