Charu Bahri, Unity

Charu Bahri, Unity

Unity

Our differences,

Lie between us,

Loud and clear.

Yet we are but currents,

From opposite streams,

Approaching the same end.

A chequered board,

Now white, now black,

Merges to form a whole.

Searching within,

For harmony without,

Let our hearts speak,

Instead of our intellect.

Is acceptance the answer?

Reconciliation, often not the norm,

Oneness, hard to achieve,

Peace is the key.

We stand together,

A force to reckon with,

Against mighty oppressors,

Professing wisdom with no logic.

Friendship

We have traveled a long road,

Together hand-in-hand,

A meeting of like minds,

A joy unlike any other.

Am I but a shadow of yourself?

Do your thoughts echo through my being,

resonating far beyond,

the confines of your mind?

I search within my soul,

I am better for having you by my side,

The vortex of my mind,

Gathers intensity from your sharing and wisdom from your insights.

Individuals we are,

Yet bare open our inner selves,

For the faith that has grown between us,

Allows no fear of forcible trespassing.

Indeed, I am free to go my own way,

Journey the path ahead alone,

But my soul calls for your presence,

Two lamps make for better light.

I feel blessed for our friendship,

We complement each other like day and night,

You are you and I am I,

Yet our meeting is sweet beyond end.
