Joan E. Bauer grew up in Los Angeles, CA and worked for some years as an English and journalism teacher in public and independent schools. Her poems have appeared in The Comstock Review, 5 AM, Main Street Rag, Paper Street, Poet Lore, and other journals. Along with Judith R. Robinson and Sankar Roy, she co-edited Only the Sea Keeps: Poetry of the Tsunami (Bayeux Arts, Calgary and Rupa & Co, New Delhi), and co-founded Poets for Humanity. She currently divides her time between Pittsburgh, PA. and Laguna Beach, CA.
