
Louise C. Callaghan was born in 1948 and grew up in county Dublin. She studied English and Spanish at University College, Dublin. Her children were all born in the 1970’s. She qualified as a secondary school teacher, with an H.Dip in Education from Trinity College, Dublin in 1980. She worked as publisher in Arlen House: The Women’s Press in the 1980’s and subsequently as a secondary school teacher of English through most of the 1990's. The Puzzle-Heart, her first collection of poetry, was published by Salmon Publishing in 1999. Remember the Birds, with the same publisher came out in 2005. She edited an anthology called Forgotten Ligh: Memory Poems (A&A Farmar, 2003). Her work has been published in magazines and literary journals. It is widely anthologized in England and in Ireland, most notably, in The Field Day Anthology, Volumes 1V and V. (2003). Currently she is studying for an M.Litt in Creative Writing at St Andrews University, Scotland, specialising in poetry.
