Ricia Anne Chansky

Ricia Anne Chansky is a doctoral candidate at Illinois State University where her research centers on feminist applications of visual literacy as a tool for reading verbal-visual rhetorics and as humanist pedagogy. Prior to her enrollment she taught rhetoric, literature, and media studies at The George Washington University and led seminars in visual literacy at the Smithsonian Institution, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Her poetry has previously appeared in such publications as Many Mountains Moving, The Baltimore Review, and Permafrost. Always interested in the intersection between visual and verbal art, her poetry explores ekphrasis and visible rhetorics.
