The War in the Congo, poem by Neil Ramsey

      We organised a second hand
      clothes sale to raise money
      for women refugees in the
      Congo, set up the clothes
      under a gazebo and had
      4 people come through and
      afterwards added $10 each
so that made it up to $100
raised and then, as we took
      down the gazebo, it started
to rain and we rushed and
      broke the gazebo - brought
your friend a new one for
$20 but it was the wrong
      kind and the right kind
of gazebo was $80, so all
up it cost us as much
      as we’d raised and you
      said, well, war’s a costly
      business, I said, war’s hell
      on the pocket. They wrote
back to us with a thank you
      note for raising the money.
