A network cable (Netzwerkkabel) is any cable that is used to connect together two or more computers or computer peripherals in a single information environment. A wide range of different cabling technologies have been invented since the birth of digital networking, from those that can work with small networks to those that are able to connect together entire cities and regions. The Internet is the biggest computer network in the world, and requires the use of thousands and thousands of different network cables for its continual operation. The type of cable used in a network will depend on the size of the network, the information topology used, the already existing types of cable, and the communication protocols already in place.
